Planned releases

Two main IUCLID releases are made per year: a major release in April (until 2021 major releases were done in October, this has changes and the next major release is planned for April 2023), and a service release in October. Two intermediate releases can also be published on the IUCLID website in addition to the two main releases. The IUCLID format is modified only in the major releases. The IUCLID instances hosted by ECHA in the ECHA Cloud Services are updated whenever new functionality becomes available, but the IUCLID format it uses changes only once a year.

The information below aims at highlighting the work planned for the web interface, particularly the remaining development to complete the transition from the IUCLID Classic interface to the web user interface. As such, this is not an exhaustive list, and is subject to change.

Next releases

  • 24th of April 2023 - major release, including format changes. Information on the planned format changes is available here. The Web Interface release highlights include:


  • Transfer annotations from an old dossier to a new or updated dossier
  • Modification history is now updated when a user extracts a dataset from a dossier
  • Export of dossiers has been enhanced to include various options
    • Export only Annotations
    • Export Remarks
    • Export to previous major version
    • Export to include Annotations (by default selected)
    • Export to include modification history
  • The IUCLID Report Generator now permits generation from sub-entities (i.e. complex entities linked inside a parent entity, and mostly applicable for Mixtures)
  • IUCLID Report Generation now runs as a Background Job, meaning that several generations can be ongoing whilst other IUCLID work is performed
  • Compare raw datasets as well as dossiers (the Comparison of a dataset, will use the current Working Context being used, meaning that the Source and Target datasets will have the same Working Context)
  • Retrieve the latest list of Reference Substances from ECHA's repository when populating a Composition under the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) Working Context

Data representation

  • Data representation from a linked Entity or Document has been improved to remove duplicated data points. For example, if the name of a Reference Substance is the same as the IUPAC name, only one name will be shown
  • When a new Document is created, the default name will reflect the Parent Node's name in the Table of Contents which the User is currently working in
  • Hierarchical picklists can now be displayed for regular picklist datatypes, and implemented initially to categorize Unit picklists, such as for the Degree of Purity in the Composition Document
